Dynapro Manufacturing User Guide

How to get Dynapro Manufacturing

For Business Central Online

If you have Business Central Online, you can get a free 30-day trial. Simply search for Dynapro Manufacturing in Business Central, or find Dynapro Manufacturing at Microsoft AppSource.

  1. Once you have selected a free trial, search for and open the Dynapro Manufacturing Setup page in Business Central.

  2. On the ribbon, select Register Trial Subscription. A window will appear confirming that you now have a trial subscription.

For Business Central On-premises

If you are using Business Central On-premises, you can get a free 30-day trial or purchase the app. Contact us at post@dynapro.no and we help you with the installation process.

Enable Dynapro Manufacturing

To be able to see the actions, fields and use the functionality added to Business Central by Dynapro Manufacturing you will need to enable the app.

To do so:

  1. Search for and open the Dynapro Manufacturing Setup page.

  2. Under the General heading, enable the Enable Dynapro Manufacturing toggle.

  3. Log out of Business Central and in again for the actions and fields to become visible in Business Central.

Enable Description 2

  1. Search for and open the Dynapro Manufacturing Setup page.

  2. Under the General heading, enable the Activate Description 2 toggle.

  3. Log out of Business Central and then log in again.

Description 2 will now be visible on the following pages:

  • Routings

  • Production Journal

  • Consumption Journal

  • Production Orders

  • Production Order Components

  • Production BOM

  • Production BOM Version

Default location code for production orders

For a location to automatically appear on your production orders when they are created:

  1. Search for and open the Dynapro Manufacturing Setup page.

  2. Under the Default Production Order Location field, select the desired location.

Create subcontractor orders automatically

  1. Search for an open the Dynapro Manufacturing Setup page.

  2. Select Enable Auto Order SubContractor.

  3. Select the Worksheet Template Name and the Requisition Worksheet Name you would like to use.

Several production orders

  1. Search for and open the Dynapro Manufacturing Setup page.

  2. Select the production orders you would like to subcontract.

  3. Select Subcontractor Purchase order for several production orders.

A single production order

  1. Open the page Released Production Orders.

  2. Select the production order you would like to subcontract.

  3. Select Subcontractor Purchase order for this production order.

Show upcoming inventory changes

To see the fields Qty. on Prod. Oder, Qty. on Purch. Order, Inventory on Main Location and Qty. on Component lines on the Production BOM and Production Order Components pages:

  1. Search for and open the Dynapro Manufacturing Setup page.

  2. Under the General heading, turn on the Show Upcoming Inventory Changes toggle.

  1. Search for and open the Dynapro Manufacturing Setup page.

  2. Turn on the Copy Links from Routing to Production Order toggle.

The links from the corresponding routing will now be copied to production orders when they are refreshed.

  1. Search for and open the Dynapro Manufacturing Setup page.

  2. Turn on the Check If Capacity Ledger Entries Exist toggle.

It will now be impossible to post output for a production order if no capacity ledger entries with runtime exist for the production order.

  1. Search for and open the Dynapro Manufacturing Setup page.

  2. Turn on the Check for Consumption toggle.

It will now be impossible to post output for a production order if no consumption exists for the production order.

Extended functionality for calculating consumption

  1. Search for and open the Dynapro Manufacturing Setup page.

  2. Turn on the Use Advanced Calculate Consumption report toggle.

You will now use the extended functionality when calculating consumption.

Show upcoming inventory changes on production order components

  1. Search for and open the Dynapro Manufacturing Setup page.

  2. Turn on the Show Upcoming Inventory Changes toggle.

You will now be able to see the fields Qty. on Prod. Order, Qty. on Purch. Order and Qty on P.O.Component on the pages Prod Order Components and Production BOM.

Get a summary of released and finished production orders

  1. Open the page Finished Production Orders or the page Released Production Orders.

  2. Select Production Order Summary.

  3. Select the production orders you would like to include in the summary and select Print.

This will print out a summary for the production orders you selected earlier.

  1. Open Consumption Journals.

  2. On the ribbon, select Prepare and then select Calc. Consumption.

  3. In the window that opens, under the Filter: Prod. Order Component heading, you will see the Route Link Code field where you can select a code.

Cost calculation fields on item cards and the items list

Dynapro Manufacturing adds the following fields to Item Cards and the Items list:

  • Calculation Cost

  • Calculated BOM Cost

  • Reference Cost

  • Calculated BOM Cost (reference cost)

To use them:

  1. Search for and open Items and choose an item.

  2. On the Item Card, find the Manufacturing heading (located at the bottom of the page).

  3. Fill out the following fields:

    1. Calculation Cost

    2. Calculated BOM Cost

    3. Reference Cost

    4. Calculated BOM Cost (reference cost)

The information you entered in each field will now be visible in the Items list.

Set fields to autofill

  1. Search for and open Dynapro Manufacturing Setup.

  2. Under the General heading, enable the Auto Fill New Prod. BOM toggle.

  3. Open the Production BOMs page and, on the ribbon, select New. A new page will appear.

  4. Under the General heading, in the No. field, enter the item number of the item for which the Production BOM was created.

Now, the following fields will be filled out automatically:

  • Description

  • Description 2

  • Unit of Measure

Make production order lines editable

  1. Search for and open Dynapro Manufacturing Setup.

  2. Under the General heading, turn on the Activate Edit Prod. Line toggle.

Now when you open a Production Order the lines will be editable

Prevent Component Shortage Errors

Dynapro Manufacturing can allow you to prevent component shortage errors when posting consumption for a production order. What will happen is that when you post the consumption of the components the app will check if there is sufficient inventory, if not the quantity exceeding the inventory will be subracted from the quantity to post.

When the status of the production order is changed to finished you will be asked if you would like post a postive adjustment for the components of which you had a shortage previously. If you say yes a positive adjustment and a conspumtion will be posted for the remaining quantity.

To enable the functionality you have to first activate it on the Dynapro Manufacturing Setup and the enable it for each individual item to which it should apply.

Enable Prevent Component Shortage Errors on Dynapro Manufacturing Setup:

  1. Search for and open Dynapro Manufacturing Setup.

  2. Under the General heading, turn on the Prevent Component Shortage Errors toggle.

  3. In the field Reason Code for Positive Adjustment select the value that you would like to use for the Reason Code of the Positive Adjustment.

  4. In the field Consumption Template select the Journal Template that you would like to use for posting the consumption.

  5. In the field Consumption Journal Batch select the Journal Batch that you would like to use for posting the consumption.

  6. In the field Positive Adjustment Template select the value that you would like to use for posting the positive adjustement for the item for which you have a shortage.

  7. In the field Positive Adjustment Batch select the value that you would like to use for posting the positive adjustement for the item for which you have a shortage.

Enabling Prevent Component Shortage Errors for an indiviual item:

  1. Search and open Items.

  2. Select the item for which you wouldl like to use the functionality to open its item card.

  3. Under the Manufacturing heading, turn on the Prevent Component Shortage Errors toggle.
