Check a Customer's Credit¶
What you'll do here:
- Run a credit check for a single customer.
- Confirm the customer has a valid VAT or registration number first.
- Understand how the app identifies companies and private persons.
Overview¶
The Update Credit Rating action fetches the latest credit result for a customer from the credit rating agency. The app sends the customer's VAT registration number or registration number to the agency, stores the result, and shows it on the customer.
The action is available on the Customer Card. It requires an active subscription and a configured agency. See Setup if the action returns an error.
Prerequisites¶
- The app is enabled and an agency and API key are configured in Setup.
- The customer has a valid VAT Registration No. or Registration Number.
- You have the Credit Rating Edit permission set.
Update the credit rating¶
- Open the Customer Card for the customer.
- Choose Update Credit Rating.
- Wait for the app to contact the agency and return a result.
The app stores the result, updates the credit information on the customer, and adds a row to the Credit Report Log.
When Update Customer Credit Limit is on in setup, the app also writes the agency credit limit to the customer's Credit Limit (LCY) field.
How the app identifies the customer¶
The app reads the customer's VAT Registration No. first, then the Registration Number. It removes any non-numeric characters, then chooses the lookup by length:
| Number length | Looked up as |
|---|---|
| 9 digits (VAT Registration No.) | Company |
| 9 digits (Registration Number) | Company |
| 11 digits (Registration Number) | Private person |
If neither number is a valid length, the app shows an error asking you to check the VAT Registration Number or Registration Number.
