Product Catalogs¶
Overview¶
A product catalog lists the items you want to expose to a trading partner in an electronic catalog document — which items, in which units of measure, and at what minimum order quantity. Each customer can be linked to one catalog. EDI coordinators and sales administrators maintain catalogs.
Open EDI Catalogs by searching for EDI Catalogs in Business Central. Each row opens as an EDI Catalog card.
Creating a Catalog¶
- Open EDI Catalogs and choose New.
- Enter a Code and a Description.
- Add lines for the items to include.
Key Fields on the Catalog¶
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Code | The code that identifies the catalog. |
| Description | The catalog's description. |
Catalog line fields¶
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Item No. | The item to include in the catalog. |
| Description | The item description, filled from the item. |
| Unit of Measure Code | The unit of measure for the item in the catalog. |
| Minimum Orderable Quantity | The smallest quantity that can be ordered for this item and unit of measure. |
An item and unit of measure combination is unique within a catalog.
Linking a Catalog to a Customer¶
On the Customer Card, set EDI Catalog to the catalog the customer should receive. The catalog is then used when a product catalog document is generated for that customer. See Trading Partners.
Supporting Item Data¶
Catalogs use standard and app-specific item data:
| Field | Where | Description |
|---|---|---|
| EDI Catalog Image URL | Item | A URL to the item image included in the catalog. |
| GTIN | Item Unit of Measure | The global trade item number for the unit of measure. |
| Qty. per Base UoM (Inverse) | Item Unit of Measure | The inverse quantity per base unit of measure, used in catalog output. |
Prices¶
Catalog prices are assembled when the catalog document is built, from the item, its units of measure, and the applicable price and currency. There is no separate price list to maintain in the catalog itself.
