Planning Groups

What you'll do here:

  • Create planning group codes.
  • Assign a group to a user or a production order.
  • Filter the Material Planner Overview by planning group.

Overview

Planning Groups let planners tag production orders with a group code. Use a planning group to link several production orders that belong to the same project or campaign. On the Material Planner Overview page, use the Planning Group Code Filter to see only the items on orders in a selected group.

Maintain Planning Groups

  1. Search for Planning Group in Business Central.
  2. Choose New to add a group.
  3. Enter a Code (up to 20 characters).
  4. Enter a Description.
  5. Close the page.

Assign a Default Planning Group to a User

When a user has a default planning group, the app sets that group on every new production order the user creates.

  1. Search for User Setup in Business Central.
  2. Open the row for the user.
  3. Enter a code in Planning Group Code.
  4. Close the page.

Assign a Planning Group to a Production Order

  1. Open the production order.
  2. Set the Planning Group field to the required group code.
  3. Save the record.

Filter by Planning Group on the Material Planner Overview

  1. Open Material Planner Overview.
  2. Enter or look up a code in Planning Group Code Filter.

The item list shows only items on production orders in that planning group. Setting this filter clears all other order filters.
