Setup¶

What you'll do here:

Run the setup wizard for first-time configuration.
Configure general, replenishment, and forecast settings.
Assign the Material Planner permission sets.

Overview¶

The Material Planner Setup page controls the default behaviour and active features of the app. Use the Material Planner Setup Wizard for initial configuration, or open the setup page directly to change individual settings at any time.

Prerequisites¶

An active Material Planner subscription through Dynapro Licensing.
The DYP MP Admin permission set assigned to the user who performs the setup.
A requisition worksheet template and batch name already created in Business Central (required for purchase replenishment).

Run the Setup Wizard¶

The wizard guides you through the most common settings.

Search for Assisted Setup in Business Central.
Find Set up Material Planner under Do More with BC.
Choose Start.
Follow the steps on each page.
Choose Finish on the last step.

You can run the wizard again at any time to change the settings it covers.

Configure Settings Manually¶

Search for Material Planner Setup in Business Central, then set the fields described below.

General¶

Setting	Description
Default Location Code Filter	The app applies this location filter when the Material Planner Overview page opens. Leave blank to show all locations.
Default Period Type	The period type shown by default on the Availability by Period incl. Forecast page.
Hide Blocked Items	When on, blocked items do not appear in the item list.
Hide Service Type Items	When on, items of type Service do not appear in the item list.
Hide Non-Inventory Items	When on, non-inventory items do not appear in the item list.
Service Activated	When on, the Service Order Filter appears on the Material Planner Overview page.
Job Activated	When on, the app adds a Material Planner action to the Job Card, and the Job filter appears on the overview page.
Activate Assembly Orders	When on, the Assembly Order Filter appears, and assembly replenishment is available.
Include Safety Stock by Default	When on, the Include Safety Stock toggle on the overview page starts as on.
Sales Order Date Filter	Controls which date field the app uses when you open the overview from a Sales Order.
Availability Decimal Places	The number of decimal places for availability quantities, in the format `min:max` (for example, `0:2`).
Include Qty On Jobs in Calculation of Availability	When on, job planning line quantities are included in the estimated availability calculation.
Enable Variants in Repl.	When on, the Variant Code field appears in the Item Replenishment dialog for items that have variants.

Replenishment¶

Setting	Description
Default Replenishment Location Code	The app uses this location when no location is specified on a replenishment order.
Default Production Order Status	The status applied to production orders created through replenishment.
Default Production Order Scheduling Direction	The scheduling direction (Forward or Backward) used when creating production orders.
Requisition Worksheet Template Name	The worksheet template where the app creates purchase requisition lines.
Requisition Worksheet Name	The worksheet batch where the app creates purchase requisition lines.
Create Purchase Directly	When on, replenishment converts the requisition line to a purchase order immediately and opens the order.

Forecast¶

Setting	Description
Production Forecast Name	The forecast where the app inserts BOM component entries.
Insert phantom BOM To Forecast	When on, the app also inserts forecast entries for intermediate BOM assemblies.
Auto Create BOM Forecast Entries	When on, the app creates component forecast entries automatically when a parent forecast entry is inserted, and deletes them when the parent is deleted.

Permission Sets¶

Permission Set	Purpose
DYP MP User	Assign to all planners who use the Material Planner Overview and Item Replenishment.
DYP MP Admin	Assign to administrators who configure the setup. Includes all permissions from DYP MP User.
