BOM & Routing Enhancements

Overview

Dynapro Manufacturing adds visibility and control to production BOMs and routings: an optional version-only editing lock, upcoming inventory quantities directly on component lines, a company-wide BOM line list, and auto-fill of description fields from the item. Production planners use these.

Version-Only BOM Editing

When Activate Edit Only BOM Version is on in setup, the standard BOM lines subform on the production BOM header is hidden. Instead, an editable Production BOM Version Lines subpage is embedded directly on the header and version pages — so all line edits happen on a specific version, keeping the "live" header lines untouched until a version is approved.

Description 2 and Auto-Fill

When Enable Description 2 is on, an extended description field appears on Production BOM, BOM lines, BOM versions, and routings.

  • Auto Fill New Prod. BOM: creating a new BOM header copies Description, Description 2, and Unit of Measure from the linked item (unless the BOM is Certified).
  • Auto Fill New Routing: creating a new routing header copies Description and Description 2 from the linked item.

Upcoming Inventory on Component Lines

When Show Upcoming Inventory Changes is on, Production BOM Lines, Production BOM Version Lines, and Production Order Components show:

Field Description
Qty. on Purch. Order Quantity on incoming purchase orders.
Qty. on Prod. Order Quantity on production orders.
Qty. on P.O Comp. Quantity committed as a component on other production orders.
Inventory on Main Location Stock at the main location configured in setup.

Each figure drills down to the underlying entries or documents.

The Routing Lines page shows the standard Routing Link Code field, which is hidden by default in standard Business Central. This makes it easier to see which routing operation a BOM line is linked to.

Copy Links from Routing to Production Order, when on in setup, copies any file or record links attached to the routing onto the production order when you run the standard Refresh Production Order report.

Viewing All BOM Lines Company-Wide

The All Production BOM Lines list shows every production BOM line across the company in one place, with a computed BOM Status column (from the BOM version if one is set, otherwise the BOM header status). Use this to search or filter BOM lines without opening each BOM individually.
