Production Order Management

Overview

Dynapro Manufacturing adds fields, checks, and controls across Planned, Firm Planned, Released, Finished, and Simulated production orders — from batch numbers and item categories to overproduction locks and consumption checks. Production planners and shop-floor supervisors use these.

Key Fields on a Production Order

Field Description
Location Code Where the items will be produced. Defaults from the current user's setup, or the setup's default location.
Batch No. Assigned automatically from the source item's lot number series when the order is released or firm planned. Once assigned, the source type and number can no longer be changed.
Item Category Code The source item's category, copied automatically. Used to determine which plant sees the order on its task list in MES integration.
Prod. Comment A free-text comment shown on Released and Firm Planned order cards.
Has Components Indicates the production order has components on its lines.
Involves Subcontractor Work / Subcontractor Work Ordered Indicates whether routing or purchasing involves a subcontractor.
Last Operation Completed The last completed routing operation, shown when enabled in setup.
Finished Quantity The quantity produced for the source item, calculated from the production order line.
Overproduction Not Allowed Prevents posting output beyond the planned quantity for this order, when the setup lock is on.

Locking Down Line Edits

When Activate Edit Prod. Line is on in setup, the Firm Planned and Released production order line subpages become read-only, except through the standard Update action. The Bin Code column is also made visible on these subpages, so it's still available for reference.

Consumption and Capacity Checks

Before an order can be set to Finished:

  • If Check for Consumption is on, the app blocks the status change if output was posted with no matching consumption postings.
  • If Check for Capacity Ledger Entries Exist is also on, the app additionally requires at least one capacity ledger entry with run time.

Overproduction Lock

When Enable Overproduction Lock is on in setup, mark individual orders with Overproduction Not Allowed. Posting output beyond the planned quantity for a flagged order is blocked with an error stating the maximum allowed output.

Auto-Fill Run Time and Auto-Complete Operations

  • Auto Fill Run Time for Output: when posting output or scrap on a journal line, the run time is calculated automatically from the routing's run time multiplied by the output and scrap quantity.
  • Auto Complete Operations: automatically flushes any remaining routing operations when you post output on the last operation, so you don't need to post each operation individually.

Printing a Production Order Summary

Use the Production Order Summary action (available on all statuses except Planned and Simulated) to print a report per selected order: item, variant, description, unit of measure, produced quantity, consumption lines, and a cost-per-unit breakdown.
