Creating an Item Calculation

Overview

An Item Sales Price Calculation is the central record in this app. Create one whenever you need to estimate the cost and sales price of a manufactured item before producing or selling it.

Creating a calculation

  1. Open Item Sales Price Calculations, or use the Item Calculation action from a sales quote or order line.
  2. Choose New. The calculation is numbered automatically from the configured No. Series.
  3. Set Order Quantity first — this is the lot/batch size the calculation is based on.
  4. Select Item No. The item lookup only shows items that have a Production BOM assigned.
  5. Set Calc. Date, which determines which BOM/Routing version is used when the calculation is generated.
  6. Material and Work lines are populated automatically from the item's current Production BOM and certified Routing — see Material and Additional Cost Lines and Work and Routing Lines.

Copying an existing calculation

Use Copy Calculation From.. on the card or list page to clone an existing calculation as a starting point for a new one, instead of building it from scratch.

Recalculating

Re-running the calculation deletes and rebuilds the system-generated Material and Work lines from the item's current BOM and Routing, while any manually entered Additional lines are preserved.
