Work and Routing Lines

Overview

The Work tab shows Capacity-type cost lines, auto-generated from the item's certified production Routing (or its active Routing Version) — one line per routing operation.

How routing cost is calculated

For each operation, the app computes capacity cost the same way Business Central computes standard routing cost: run time plus setup time, multiplied by the work or machine center's unit cost. If the work center is configured with Specific Unit Cost, a flat subcontracted price is used instead of time-based cost.

Routing line fields

Field Description
Capacity Type / Capacity Center The work center or machine center performing the operation.
Description The operation description.
Setup / Run / Wait / Move Time Time components from the routing.
Unit of Measure / Unit Cost / Line Amount The cost math for the operation.
Vendor No. Relevant for subcontracted operations.
Activity Type Classifies the type of routing activity.
Routing Link Code Links the operation to a specific BOM line, matching standard BC routing/BOM behavior.

Adjusting routing costs

You can manually adjust times or costs on a routing line if needed. Changes automatically refresh the Total Capacity Cost on the calculation header, which cascades into the Sales Price and Calculation Factor — see Setting the Sales Price.
