Using Calculations on Sales Documents¶
Overview¶
Link a calculation to a sales line so the calculated cost/price context follows the item through your sales flow, and optionally transfer the calculated sales price directly onto the line.
Linking a calculation¶
A Calculation No. field is available on:
- Sales quote and order lines — editable; linking a calculation enables transferring its price.
- Sales invoice lines, posted sales invoice lines, posted sales shipment lines — informational, carried through when the document is posted.
On sales quote and order lines, an Item Calculation action (under Functions) opens the linked calculation's card, or the calculation list for the line's item if none is linked yet.
Transferring the calculated price¶
When you set or change the Calculation No. on a sales quote or order line, you're prompted:
Transfer calculation price to sales line?
Confirming copies the calculation's Sales Price (currency-adjusted) onto the sales line's Unit Price. If you decline, the line keeps its existing price and only the calculation reference is stored.
Viewing on posted documents¶
The Calculation No. field also appears on posted sales invoice and posted sales shipment lines, so you can trace which calculation was used for a given sale even after posting.
