Classification Setup¶
Overview¶
Before end users start registering deviations, set up the classification "master data" that keeps deviations consistent and reportable. Each table below is a simple list page reachable from the Deviation Management setup area.
Deviation Error Codes¶
Top-level classification of what kind of error occurred (for example, "wrong dimension" or "surface damage"). Selected as Error Code on a Deviation Report.
Cause Codes¶
A cause classification scoped to a specific Error Code — each error code has its own set of valid causes. When a user selects a Cause Code on a report, its description is looked up automatically. Set up cause codes for every error code your organization uses.
Consequence Categories¶
An independent code/description list classifying the business consequence or impact of a deviation (for example, "delivery delay" or "rework required").
Severity Classifications¶
Define named severity bands (for example, Low, Medium, Critical), each with:
- A Min and Max numeric range.
- An associated color, shown as a swatch wherever severity appears on a Deviation Report.
Bands cannot overlap or leave gaps
Severity Classification ranges must cover every possible numeric value exactly once — no overlaps and no gaps — so every severity number resolves to exactly one classification.
Use the Severity Classifications action on the Deviation Management Setup page to maintain these bands directly.
Equipment Categories & Equipment¶
A two-level hierarchy:
- Equipment Category — a group of equipment (for example, "CNC Machines").
- Equipment — a specific item within a category (for example, "CNC-01").
Selecting a category on a Deviation Report filters the Equipment list to that category.
Internal Processes¶
A list of internal processes or workflow steps in which a deviation can occur (for example, "Assembly" or "Packing"). Selected as Internal Process on a Deviation Report.
