Registering a Deviation

Overview

A Deviation Report is the central record in Dynapro Quality Management. Register one whenever something goes wrong — a defective item, a customer complaint, a vendor error, or an internal process failure — so it can be classified, investigated, and resolved.

Creating a Deviation Report

  1. Open Deviation Reports from the role center, or use the Deviation Report quick-create action on the Order Processor Role Center.
  2. Choose New. The report is numbered automatically from the configured No. Series.
  3. Fill in the reporting details described below.
  4. The report is saved automatically as you fill it in — there is no separate "submit" step.

Reporting details

Field Description
Registered By Defaults to the current user's salesperson code.
Registration Date Set automatically when the report is created.
Location The location where the deviation occurred.
Equipment Category / Equipment The equipment involved, if any. Selecting a category filters the equipment list to that category.
Internal Process The internal process/workflow step in which the deviation occurred.
Internal Deviation Marks the deviation as internal rather than originating externally (customer/vendor).
Error Code Classifies the type of error. See Classification Setup.
Description Free text describing what happened.
Affected Item The item affected, with its description shown automatically.
Serial No. / Lot No. Only editable if the affected item uses serial or lot tracking.

Customer and vendor details

If the deviation relates to a sale or purchase:

  • Set Sell-to Customer and the Customer Complaint flag if a customer reported the issue.
  • Set Buy-from Vendor and the Vendor Error flag if a vendor caused the issue.

Linking a Sales/Purchase Order fills these in automatically

Linking a related Sales Order or Purchase Order (see Photos & Related Documents) automatically populates the Sell-to Customer or Buy-from Vendor field. Removing the link clears it again.

Deleting a Deviation Report

Deleting a Deviation Report also deletes its related Technical Drawing lines and Related Documents. Attached photos and standard document attachments are cleaned up as well.
