What is Dynapro Quality Management?

Dynapro Quality Management (published under the technical name Deviation Management) is a Business Central app for registering and tracking quality deviations and non-conformances — anything that goes wrong with an item, a customer order, a vendor delivery, an internal process, or a piece of equipment.

It gives quality and production staff a single place to:

  • Register what happened, when, where, and to which item, customer, vendor, or equipment.
  • Classify the deviation (error type, cause, severity, business consequence).
  • Record what was decided and done with the affected goods (disposition).
  • Propose and track corrective actions with responsible people and deadlines.
  • Communicate with the customer and record their response.
  • Attach photos, technical drawings, and related documents as evidence.
  • Optionally post a negative inventory adjustment for scrapped or rejected stock.
  • Print a formal deviation report to share internally or with a customer.

How it fits together

A deviation moves through an informal lifecycle rather than a fixed approval workflow — there is no single "status" field. Instead, the report progresses as responsible people and dates are filled in:

  1. Register — create a Deviation Report describing what happened.
  2. Classify & Disposition — set severity, cause, consequence category, and what happened to the affected goods.
  3. Corrective Action — propose and record corrective measures, with a responsible person and deadline.
  4. Customer Communication — if the deviation was reported to a customer, record their response.
  5. Follow-Up & Conclusion — add follow-up notes and mark the deviation as processed.
  6. Inventory Adjustment (optional) — scrap or write off affected stock directly from the report.
  7. Print — generate a formal PDF/printout of the deviation at any point.

Role Center integration

Deviation Management adds an "Assigned to Me" cue to several role centers — Accountant, Accounting Manager, Business Manager, Production Planner (Manufacturing Manager), Order Processor, and Team Member — showing each user how many open deviation reports are assigned to them. The Order Processor Role Center also gets a quick-create action to register a new deviation directly from the ribbon. See Setup & Permissions for details.
