Service Order Lines

Overview

Dynapro Service Management adds several helpers to the Service Lines of a service order, so dispatchers and technicians build up order lines faster. It also replaces the standard posting action with one that checks the posting date, and adds an internal work description and richer comments.

Line Helper Actions

Open a service order and use the Functions menu on Service Lines:

Action Does
Copy to all service items Copies the current line to every other service item on the order.
Insert service agreement Inserts a service agreement line, priced from the contract, using the item from setup.
Copy service lines from posted invoice Copies lines from a posted service invoice into this order.
Explode Assembly BOM Replaces an item with its BOM components as separate service lines.

When Enable Expand Assembly BOM on Service Document is on in setup, adding an item that has a BOM explodes it into component lines automatically. See Setup & Permissions.

Key Fields on Service Lines

Field Description
Vendor No. The vendor for the item, filled automatically from the item card when an item is selected.

The Service Item No. lookup on the order subform is filtered to the order's customer and ship-to. Selecting a service item that is on active contracts shows a note: "Service Item number %1 is included in %2 Service Contracts".

Posting a Service Order

The standard Post action on service lines is replaced by a Dynapro Post action (F9). Before posting, it runs the posting-date check.

When Change Posting Date is enabled in setup and the posting date is older than the work date, the app asks: "Posting date %1 is older than the workdate %2, do you want to use the workdate?" If you accept, the header and all lines are re-dated to the work date.

Internal Work Description

The service order has an Internal Work Description group with a multiline field. This description is for internal use and does not appear on the customer service report. It is also shown, read-only, as Work Description on the Service Orders list.

Service Comments

The service comment sheet adds:

Field Description
Serial No. The serial number of the service item the comment relates to.
Resource No. The resource the comment relates to.
Visible External Whether the comment is visible to external users such as customers. Otherwise it is internal.

Use the Service Item Comments action to view comments for the selected service item.
