Transport Prices & Container Types

Overview

Build a transport price matrix that the app uses to automatically calculate the best-matching price for a shipment, based on shipping agent, zone, container type, and quantity.

Container Types

Container Type Code is a simple code/description master list used to differentiate pricing by container (for example, standard 20ft and 40ft container types).

Transport Types and Price Types

Each transport price line is categorized by:

Concept Values Description
Transport Type General Cargo, Container, Bulk The top-level category of shipment the price line applies to.
Price Type Price per UoM, Percentage of Amount, Fixed How the price line is calculated.

Building a Transport Price

A Transport Price line is uniquely identified by Transport Type, Shipping Agent, Country/Region, Zone Type, Zone, Container Type, Starting Date, and Minimum Quantity — so you can build multiple tiered, quantity-break price lines per agent/zone/container combination, each with its own validity period (Starting/Ending Date). Each line includes:

Field Description
Unit Price, Unit of Measure Code, Currency Code The base price and its unit/currency, defaulted from the shipping agent's vendor.
Minimum Quantity / Minimum Amount for Price Line Quantity- and amount-based price breaks, calculated automatically from adjacent tiers.
Minimum/Maximum Total Transport Amount and Max Load Floor/ceiling and weight caps, especially relevant for General Cargo.
Surcharges Fuel, Pump, Washing, Dangerous Goods (IMO), Container Tracking Port, MAUT and Heating, and Other Charges — all rolled up into a computed Total Charge Amount.
Transit Duration / Transit Duration Part Load Estimated lead time for the shipment.

How the best price is found

When calculating transport price for a shipment, the app finds the best matching price line for the given weight/amount, applying unit-of-measure conversion, currency conversion, and any minimum/maximum caps that apply.

Unit of Measure conversion

Weight and volume conversions used in price calculations rely on Qty. per Unit of Measure, Base Unit of Measure Code, and Rounding Precision on Unit of Measure records, combined with the Transport Base UoM Code in setup — see Setup & Permissions. This lets the system convert a sales line's weight/quantity consistently (for example, kilograms to tonnes) across all transport price calculations.
