Label Printing

Overview

Cargonizer generates shipping labels and sends them directly to networked printers via DirectPrint. No downloading, uploading, or manual intervention is required. You can also download labels manually at any time.

DirectPrint — Automatic Printing

When you dispatch a transport order and Automatically Print Labels is enabled, Cargonizer's DirectPrint service sends the label directly to the assigned printer.

Printer Resolution

Business Central resolves the printer in this priority order:

  1. User Setup — printer assigned to the current user
  2. Location — printer assigned to the shipping location
  3. Product — default printer configured on the carrier product
  4. Only registered printer — if none of the above are set and exactly one printer is registered, it is selected automatically
  5. Printer selection screen — if none of the above are set and more than one printer is registered, you are asked to pick one

The first non-empty value wins. If no printer is registered at all, Business Central skips printing. You can then download the label manually.

Legacy Printing

If Use Legacy Printing is enabled in Consignment Management Setup, Cargonizer prints the label automatically as part of sending the consignment, and none of the printer resolution above applies.

Setting Up Printers

Printers are synced from Cargonizer alongside carrier data.

  1. Run Retrieve Cargonizer Account Data from the Cargonizer Setup page.
  2. Open the Printers list to confirm your printers appear.
  3. Assign printers to users (User Setup) and/or locations (Location Card).

Automatic Label Printing on Shipment Posting

To print labels automatically when a sales shipment is posted:

  1. Open Consignment Management Setup.
  2. Enable Automatically Print Labels.
  3. Ensure a valid printer is assigned (user, location, or product level).

When auto-send is also enabled, the full flow — post shipment → create transport order → send to Cargonizer → print label — happens in a single action.

Return Labels

Return labels have a separate automatic printing option. Enable Automatically Print Return Labels in setup to print the return label immediately after the return transport order is generated.

Return labels can also be emailed to the customer automatically. See Return Shipments.

Manual Label Download

If automatic printing is not configured or a reprint is needed:

  1. Open the transport order.
  2. Use the Download Label action.

The label URL is stored on the transport order after successful dispatch, so downloads are always available after the consignment is sent.

International Documents

For international shipments the following documents may be available alongside the standard label:

Document When Available
Waybill Cross-border shipments requiring a carrier waybill
Goods Declaration DHL e-invoiced shipments (see DHL Electronic Invoicing)

Use the Download Waybill and Download Goods Declaration actions on the transport order card.
