Online Production Control¶
Online Production Control (OPC) is a Business Central app by Dynapro AS. It adds a shop-floor layer on top of standard Business Central Manufacturing, so operators can clock in and out, register time on production order operations, post output and scrap, log indirect time, and read shop-floor messages — from a touch-friendly Role Center with optional barcode scanning.
New to Online Production Control?
Read the Overview first to understand the key concepts — especially that an operator is a Machine Center. Administrators should start with Enabling OPC & Permissions and Setup.
For shop-floor operators¶
Daily tasks operators perform from the Information Board and Role Center.
-
Time Registration
Clock in and out for the day. Clock-out automatically posts open operation time and applies lunch deductions.
-
Operation Registration
Pick a released production order operation and start or stop time against it, alone or on several operations at once.
-
Output Registration
Post output quantity, scrap, serial or lot tracking, and the registering resource for an operation.
-
Indirect Time
Log non-productive time — cleaning, maintenance, meetings, stops — against an indirect time code.
-
Resource Status Board
See which resources are clocked onto which operation right now, and log an operator out by scanning a badge.
-
Move Components
Move production order components from the staging location to another location with a reclassification post.
For administrators and supervisors¶
Enablement, configuration, and back-office monitoring.
-
Enabling OPC & Permissions
Turn on the OPC application area, assign permission sets, and filter the Role Center per user.
-
Setup
Configure the journal templates, concurrency, barcode scanning, and posting behaviour that drive OPC.
-
Run Times & Corrections
Review the run-time engine and capacity ledger entries, and correct a posted entry when needed.
-
Role Center & Information Board
Understand the operator home screen, its activity cues, and the information messages you can publish.
How the pieces fit together¶
- An administrator turns on the app in Enabling OPC & Permissions and configures journals in Setup.
- Operators open the Role Center & Information Board and clock in with Time Registration.
- From an operation, they start time in Operation Registration and post results in Output Registration.
- Non-productive time goes to Indirect Time; the Resource Status Board shows who is working on what.
- Supervisors review the Run Times & Corrections and adjust capacity ledger entries when needed.
