Operation Registration¶
Overview¶
Operation registration is the core productive-time capture. An operator picks a released production order operation and starts time on it (time-stamping). When the work is done, the operator stops time and, optionally, posts output at the same time. OPC records each start and stop as a run-time and posts capacity to the standard capacity ledger.
Operators reach operations from the Information Board Operations button, which opens the OPC Operation List — released, unfinished operations for the center. The Planned operations button opens the same list filtered to firm-planned operations.
Starting and Stopping Time¶
- Open the OPC Operation List from the Information Board.
- Select the operation. Use the Scan Filter field to jump to an operation by scanning
ProdOrderNoorProdOrderNo;OperationNo. - Choose Start/Stop Time. This opens the OPC Machine Center On Operation card.
- Add yourself (or scan a badge) in Register employee to log onto the operation.
- Choose Register to start time. Choose it again later to stop.
Key Fields on the Operation List¶
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Starting Date | Scheduled start date of the operation. |
| Prod. Order No. | The production order. |
| Operation No. | The routing operation. |
| Item No. / Item Description | The item being produced. |
| Component Status | Whether components are properly reserved, shown with colour. |
| Inventory Status | A warning indicator when component inventory is short. |
| Ordred Qty. | The ordered quantity. |
| Finished Quantity | Output already posted, from the capacity ledger. |
| Remaining Qty | Quantity still to produce. |
| Expected Capacity Need | Planned capacity for the operation. |
| Actual Run Time | Time already registered on the operation. |
Operation List Actions¶
| Action | Does |
|---|---|
| Start/Stop Time | Opens the Machine Center On Operation card to start or stop time. |
| Post Output | Opens OPC Output Registration to post output and scrap. See Output Registration. |
| Move Components | Opens OPC Move Components. Requires Allow OPC Move. See Move Components. |
| Quality measures | Opens the standard production order routing quality measures. |
| Comments and Measures | Opens the routing comment sheet with OPC measure codes. |
| BOM List | Opens the production order component list. |
| Refresh | Recalculates the visible rows. |
Registering an Operator on an Operation¶
The OPC Machine Center On Operation card captures the resource and output for the operation:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Machine Center | The center the operation runs on. |
| Register employee | Scan or select the operator to log onto the operation. |
| Output Quantity | Output produced, if posting at the same time. |
| Scrap Quantity / Scrap Code / Scrap Comment | Scrap produced and its reason. |
Choose Register to record the time and output.
Working on Several Operations at Once¶
When Allow Time Stamping on Concurrent Operations is on — both in OPC Setup and on the operator's Machine Center — an operator can be logged into more than one operation at the same time. Posting is deferred until clock-out. At clock-out, the total time is distributed across the concurrent operations using an Adjustment Factor.
When concurrency is off, starting a new operation while another is still open prompts the operator to close and post the previous one first.
