Enabling OPC & Permissions¶
Overview¶
Before operators can use Online Production Control, an administrator turns on the OPC application area, assigns the permission sets, and optionally filters the Role Center per user. This guide covers enablement, licensing, and security.
Prerequisites¶
- The Online Production Control and Dynapro Licensing Client apps are installed.
- The DYP OP OPC Admin permission set assigned to the administrator.
- An active OPC subscription, or a trial (see below).
Enabling the App¶
OPC pages and fields are hidden until the OPC application area is switched on.
- Open Online Production Control Setup.
- Turn on Enable Online Production Control.
- Confirm the message about signing out. Business Central switches on the DYP OPC application area for the company.
- Sign out and sign back in for the OPC pages and fields to appear.
Enabling the app makes the rest of the Setup page editable. See Setup.
Licensing¶
OPC requires an active subscription through the Dynapro Licensing Client. Use the actions on the Setup page:
| Action | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Register Trial License | Registers a trial subscription by contacting the Dynapro licensing server. |
| Update License | Refreshes the subscription status. |
OPC pages check the subscription when they open. If the subscription is missing or expired, the pages block use until it is resolved.
Permission Sets¶
Assign the permission set that matches the user's role:
| Permission Set | Audience | Grants |
|---|---|---|
| DYP OP OPC User | Shop-floor operators and supervisors | Full read/write on all OPC tables, and execute on all OPC pages, codeunits, and reports. |
| DYP OP OPC Admin | Administrators | Everything in DYP OP OPC User, plus the Setup table and the enablement codeunit. |
Assign DYP OP OPC User to operators and line leads. Reserve DYP OP OPC Admin for administrators who configure the app.
Filtering the Role Center per User¶
The Role Center cues and operation lists are filtered to the logged-in user's work centers. Set these on the User Setup card:
| Field | Effect |
|---|---|
| OPC Capacity Type Filter | Limits cues and lists to a capacity type (work center or machine center). |
| OPC Capacity No. Filter | Limits cues and lists to specific centers. |
| OPC Work Group Filter | Limits cues and lists to a work group. |
With these set, each operator sees only the operations and cues for their own area.
