Output Registration

Overview

Output registration records what an operation produced: the output quantity, any scrap, serial or lot tracking, the batch, and the resource that registered it. OPC posts this to the standard output/item journal, so finished quantities and costs flow into Business Central automatically.

Open OPC Output Registration from the Post Output action on the operation list. The Role Center Post Output action opens the same registration.

Posting Output

  1. Open the operation and choose Post Output.
  2. Enter the Output Quantity.
  3. Enter any Scrap Quantity with a Scrap Code and optional Scrap Comment.
  4. For tracked items, enter the Serial No. or choose Select Tracking Numbers.
  5. Enter the Batch No. if the item requires a batch.
  6. Enter Registered by if resource registration is required.
  7. Confirm to post.

Key Fields on Output Registration

Field Description
Production Order No. The production order, read-only.
Item No. / Item Description The item produced, read-only.
Operation Description The operation.
Serial No. Serial number for tracked items. Shown only when serial tracking applies.
Batch No. The batch the output belongs to. Mandatory when the item has Batch Mandatory.
Output Quantity Quantity produced.
Registered by: The Machine Center that registers the output. Only centers with Allow Output Posting can be selected.
Scrap Quantity / Scrap Code / Scrap Comment Scrap produced and its reason.
Concurrency Factor How many orders run at once on the center. Defaults from the item.
Set Routing Status to Finished Marks the routing operation finished when the output posts.

Entering scrap on a serial-tracked item clears the output quantity, because a serial unit is either good or scrapped.

Serial and Lot Tracking

For tracked items, use Select Tracking Numbers or Call Item Tracking to view and select the serial or lot reservation entries for the production order. These actions are available on the last operation of a tracked item.

When Carry on Serial No. is on in setup, the serial number carries onto the finished product. When Enable Serial No. on Capacity Ledger Entries is on, the serial number transfers to capacity and item ledger entries on intermediate operations.

Rules and Guards

Rule Effect
Check Previous Operation Posted Blocks output when the previous manual operation has not been posted, and caps the quantity to what the previous operation produced.
Prohibit Multiple Capacity Ledger Entries Prevents more than one capacity ledger entry for the same operation.
Resource Registration Required Requires a Registered by resource before output can post.
Batch Mandatory (item) Requires a batch number before output can post.
