Time Registration

Overview

Time Registration is the daily clock-in and clock-out. An operator clocks in when the shift starts and clocks out when it ends. Clocking creates time-register entries for the operator's Machine Center. When the operator clocks out, OPC automatically posts any operation time that is still open and applies the configured lunch or dinner deductions.

Open the feature from the Information Board Time Registration button, which opens the OPC Time Register List — the list of clocking-enabled Machine Centers. Each operator has an OPC Time Register Card with a subform of their time-register lines.

Clocking In and Out

Use the Register Time action:

  1. Open Time Registration from the Information Board.
  2. Select your Machine Center (or scan your badge when barcode scanning is on).
  3. Choose Register Time.
  4. If you have no open entry, OPC clocks you in and records the start time.
  5. If you already have an open entry, OPC clocks you out, posts your open operation time, and applies lunch deductions.

A clock-in earlier than the work center's Earliest Time Reg. Start Time (In) is moved forward to that time.

Key Fields on the Time Register

Field Description
Machine Center The operator being clocked.
Start Date / Start Time The clock-in date and time.
End Date / End Time The clock-out date and time.
Quantity Hours between start and end, calculated automatically.
Time Type Daytime, Overtime 50%, or Overtime 100%, derived automatically.
Absence Marks the entry as absence rather than worked time.
Deduction Type Blank, Lunch, Dinner, or Other — used by the automatic deduction lines.
Starting day The weekday name for the entry.

Once an entry has a Date Exported to Tempus value, it is locked and must be corrected in the external Tempus payroll system.

Registering Absence

Use the Absence action to open the standard Business Central capacity absence for the selected Machine Center and date. This records planned or unplanned absence against the resource's calendar.

Automatic Deductions

Lunch and dinner breaks are deducted automatically at clock-out, based on deduction rules. Administrators define the rules in OPC Run Times Deduction:

Field Description
Code Identifier for the deduction rule.
Description What the rule is for (e.g. lunch).
From Time / To Time The break window the rule covers.
Deduct From Production Order Whether the break time is also deducted from the production order time.
Deduction Type Lunch, Dinner, or Other.

The work center holds the deduction amounts (Deduct lunch (Hours), Deduct dinner (hours)) and the lunch/dinner deduction codes.
