Setup

Overview

The Online Production Control Setup page holds the journal templates, posting behaviour, and options that drive OPC. Open it by searching for Online Production Control Setup in Business Central. Most settings become editable only after OPC is enabled — see Enabling OPC & Permissions.

Prerequisites

  • The Online Production Control and Dynapro Licensing Client apps are installed.
  • An active OPC subscription (or trial). See Enabling OPC & Permissions.
  • The DYP OP OPC Admin permission set assigned to the user doing setup.
  • Output, capacity, and item reclassification journal templates and batches exist in Business Central.

Journal Routing

OPC posts to standard journals. Point each posting type at the correct template and batch:

Item Journal Template Name Serial No. / Item Jnl. Batch Name Serial No. Posting output of serial/lot tracked items.
Output Jnl. Templ. Name Time / Output Jnl. Batch Name Time Posting time and capacity.
Output Jnl. Templ. Name Correction / Output Jnl. Batch Name Correction Output corrections.

Posting and Behaviour Options

Setting Effect
Auto Insert Machine Center Line Auto-creates a run-time line for the operation's machine center when starting time.
Time Register Card Required Requires an operator to be clocked in before logging operation time.
Resource Registration Required Requires a registering resource when posting output.
Suppress Dialog When Posting Hides the posting confirmation dialog.
Open Journal Page After Correction Opens the correction journal after a correction is created.
Carry on Serial No. Carries the serial number onto the finished product.
Enable Serial No. on Capacity Ledger Entries Transfers the serial number to capacity and item ledger entries on intermediate operations.
Prohibit Multiple Capacity Ledger Entries Prevents more than one capacity ledger entry per operation.
Check Previous Operation Posted Blocks output until the previous manual operation is posted.
Set Routing Status to Finished Available on output registration to finish the operation when output posts.

Concurrency

Setting Effect
Allow Time Stamping on Concurrent Operations Globally lets an operator work on several operations at once, with deferred posting at clock-out.
Use Concurrency Factor Type Selects the concurrency-factor calculation: None, Indirect Cost, or Run Time.

The per-item Concurrency Factor (Item Card) and the per-center Allow Time Stamping on Concurrent Operations (Machine Center) refine this behaviour.

Barcode Scanning and Display

Setting Effect
Enable Bar Code Scanning Enables scanner focus handling across OPC pages.
Bar Code Filter On Operation List Shows the Scan Filter field on the operation list.
Warning Picture The bitmap shown as an inventory warning on operation lists.
Flushing Method Filter Operations Filters which operations show, by flushing method. Defaults to All Methods.

Some OPC configuration lives on standard Business Central cards:

Machine Center Show in OPC, Clocking, Allow Output Posting, Allow OPC Move, Allow Time Stamping on Concurrent Operations, Employee No., Birth Date.
Work Center Earliest Time Reg. Start Time (In), lunch/dinner deduction codes and amounts.
Item Concurrency Factor, Inherit Serial No., Batch Mandatory.
User Setup OPC Capacity Type Filter, OPC Capacity No. Filter, OPC Work Group Filter.
Inventory Setup Std. Batch Nos.

Setup Actions

Action Purpose
Update License Syncs the subscription with the Dynapro licensing server (SaaS).
Register Trial License Registers a trial subscription (SaaS).
